Personal Accident

This is a policy which provides compensation in the event of injuries, disability or death caused solely by violent, accidental, external and visible events.

It is part of a health insurance policy and provides coverage for all medical-related expenses caused due to an accident. It covers hospitalisation, treatment, surgery (if required) and associated medical costs. Furthermore, it covers expenses towards permanent or partial disabilities suffered because of the accident.

Personal accident cover pays out if you die or are seriously injured in an accident and you can't claim compensation from a third party. So if the accident was your fault, your personal accident cover could pay out. To qualify for a payout, your injuries would have to be of a certain severity or result in your death
